Become A Donor
Become A Neighborhood Coordinator
Join your neighbors as a food donor in the Wenatchee Green Bag Program. When you sign up we will deliver a reusable Green Bag directly to your home. All you have to do is fill it!
Three Easy Steps:
What Should You Donate?
It's really simple, just fill the bag with whatever you would buy yourself!
The Green Bag Program is a great opportunity to help diversify and improve the quality of food being distributed at local food banks. We are looking for everyday non-perishable food items and household necessities that every family needs. While you are at the store doing your regular shopping think of what you, your kids, elderly family members, or even your pets might like and buy an extra item or two.
Interested in Signing Up Your Office or a Group?
You can do that!
Many local businesses, organizations, and groups in the Wenatchee Valley participate in the Wenatchee Green Bag Program. For all businesses with a Monday- Friday schedule we pick-up on the second Friday of odd months. Just let us know your schedule in the comments section when you sign up.
What if You Have To Skip a Pick-Up?
Let your Neighborhood Coordinator know you will not be able to participate in that month's pick-up date and you can either skip that month altogether or arrange another time to have your bag picked up, or drop it off at the Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council office at 620 Lewis St., Wenatchee, WA.
Organize a small group of neighbors to be food donors in the Wenatchee Green Bag Program. Each donor gets a reusable Green (Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council) Bag to fill. Every two months you arrange to have the bags picked up, leave empty ones, and bring them all to the NCW Food Distribution Center where the food is then distributed to local food pantries.
What are a Neighborhood Coordinator’s Duties?
How Much Time Will it Take?
Depending on how large your neighborhood is your duties as a Neighborhood Coordinator should only take a few hours a month.
(It may take longer in the beginning as you learn the process and build your neighborhood.)
How Do You Build A Neighborhood?
Your neighborhood can be as small or as large as you like. It really depends on what you feel you can manage. When you first start out you may inherit a previously established neighborhood, or you can recruit all new neighbors.
Not Sure You Are Ready to Be a Neighborhood Coordinator But Still Would Like to Help?
Sign up to be a Wenatchee Green Bag Program Driver. Sometimes we need a little extra help in completing a neighborhood route. As a driver, we may call upon you once in awhile to help in with the pick up of bags and delivery to the NCW Food Distribution Center.
